Butte, ND, passed away
on Friday, September 4,
2020 in a Minot hospital.
Wayne Clement Schatz
was born on May 12,
1952, a son of Edmund
and Rose (Volk) Schatz in
Minot, ND. He was raised
and educated in Bergan
and Butte, ND areas.
Following his educa-
tion, Wayne enlisted into
the United States Army
National Guard. He
proudly served his coun-
try, until his honorable
discharge on August 3,
1978.
On June 24, 1972,
Wayne was united in mar-
riage to Kathleen “Kathy”
Heisler in Velva, ND.
They made their home in
Butte, ND, where together
they raised their family,
and beginning in 1988,
became the
owner/operators of the
Hunters Lodge Bar in
Butte, ND.
Wayne was a member
of the Holy Spirit Catholic
Church in Butte until it’s
closure, then became a
member of St. Cecilia
Catholic Church, Velva.
He was also a member of
the Butte American Le-
gion, Butte Fire Depart-
ment and the Harvey Ea-
gles.
Wayne enjoyed spend-
ing time outdoors, chop-
ping wood, working in his
garden, fishing, hunting
and going for drives in the
country or to the casino
and attending Texas
Hold’em Tournaments,
He is survived by:
Wife of 48 years, Kathy,
Butte, ND;
Children: Amy (Blaine)
Nechiporenko and their
children Kira and Cole, all
of Butte, ND; Susie
(Travis) Franklin and
their children Zachary
and Alyssa, all of
Bismarck, ND;
Siblings: Terry (Becky)

Sharon Schatz, Dallas,
GA, Tim Schatz, Butte,
ND, Vicky (Jim) Edwards,
Las Vegas, NV, Vern

brothers and

Wayne was preceded in
death by his parents, son

2012, father and mother-
in-law Arthur and Fern

Thompson-Larson Fun-
eral Home Chapel, Minot

at Holy Cross Catholic
Cemetery, Velva, ND. All
attendees are encouraged
to bring their own chairs,
and we will be observing
CDC covid-19 guidelines.
