Harry Bennett, 94,
Minot, ND, formerly of
Glenburn, passed away
Monday, August 3, 2020,
surrounded by his family.
Harry was born Febru-
ary 25, 1926, the son of
Harry and Sarah (Thom)
Bennett, in Russell, ND.
He was raised and educat-ed in the Russell area, gra-
duating from Russell High
School in 1943.
Harry entered into the
United States Navy on
February 17, 1945. He
proudly served his coun-
try during World War II
serving in the Asiatic Pa-
cific Theater. He served
on the USS Sculptor, the
USS Egeria ARL 8 and at
the Puget Sound Naval
Shipyard. He was honor-
ably discharged on July
24, 1946.
Harry married
Rosemarie Stromberg on
July 24, 1949 at St. Olaf
Lutheran Church in Gril-
ley Township, McHenry
County. They lived in
Minot where Harry
worked for Sweetheart
Bakery. In 1957, the fami-
ly moved to Glenburn and
Harry operated Harry’s
101. He began his em-
ployment with Chevron
Oil Company in 1961 and
retired from there after
thirty plus years.
In 1961 the family
moved from Glenburn to
the Switzer Farm in Gril-
ley Township where they
raised their 5 children. In
1978, the couple fulfilled
one of their lifetime
dreams of constructing
their own home in Glen-
burn, ND. It was a labor
of love for the whole fam-
ily. It was from those
doors where they waited
with open arms for their
10 darling grandchildren.
Harry was a member of
Trinity Lutheran Church,
Glenburn where he served
on the council and helped
with the construction of
the current building. He
served on the Glenburn
City Council and was a
member of the American
Legion and Lions Club.
Harry enjoyed listening
and dancing to polka
music. He was always
available to help build
houses, sheds, garages, fix
cars, and repair appli-
ances. He loved watching
his grandchildren and
great-grandchildren grow
up. Harry cherished large
family gatherings espe-
cially on holidays when
Rosemarie would make
his favorite turkey
dinners.

Osborn, Matthew (Jen)

(Casey) Olson, Mikayla
(Andrew) McWilliams,
Tyler (Annie) Bennett,
Brooks Bennett, Kelsey
(Dylan) Lewellynn, and
Garrett (Dani) Bennett; 18
great-grandchildren;
brother, Harvey (Julie)
Bennett, Williston; sister,
Shirley Miller, Bottineau;
numerous nieces and
nephews.
Harry was preceded in
death by: his parents; si-
blings Jeanette, Marjorie,
Virginia and James.
Celebrating the Life of

A Public Funeral Ser-
vice will be held Satur-
day, August 8, 2020, at
2:00 p.m. at First Luth-
eran Church in Minot.
The family requests that
everyone wear a mask to
protect our vulnerable
family members. Please
observe social distancing.
A Public Graveside
Service will be held on
Saturday, August 8, 2020,
at 4:00 pm at Sunset
Memorial Gardens, Minot,
ND. Due to the Corona-
virus Pandemic, please
observe social distancing.
Visitation: Will be one
hour before the service at
the church
