Ruth Deaver

June 29, 1929-July 10, 2020

Ruth Karine Deaver, 91,

Minot, formerly of Bert-

hold, died Friday, July 10,

2020, at the home of her

son Danny, with her fami-

ly at her side and under

the care of Caring Edge

Hospice.

Ruth was born June 29,

1929, in rural Berthold to

Olaf and Emma (Johnson)

Trondson. She was raised

and educated in Shealy

Township.

Ruth married the love

of her life, Delwin Deaver,

on September 17, 1946, in

Sidney, Montana. Early

years of their married life

were spent in Berthold

and also in Tioga, where

she worked alongside her

parents at the cafe they

operated.

In 1957, they bought

her parents farm south of

Berthold. Ruth was the

perfect farming and

ranching partner, always

ready to lend a hand and

provide a meal at a

moment’s notice.

In 1992, after Delwin’s

retirement, Ruth and

Delwin moved to Bert-

hold. 2010 was the first

year the Deaver family

had the opportunity to

travel by motor coach to

watch the Minnesota

Twins play. This annual

event continued through

2015 and was truly a

highlight for Ruth and her

family. Delwin passed

away on March 13, 2012.

Ruth moved to Elmcroft

Assisted Living in Febru-

ary 2015.

She was a member of

the Berthold Baptist

Church, Baptist Women’s

Circle, Modern Homemak-ers Club, and Ward Coun-

ty Farm Bureau.

She was an avid Twins

fan and never missed

watching a game. She en-

joyed crocheting hangers

in her spare time and

made sure everyone got

one. She was proud of her

Norwegian heritage and

enjoyed the Norsk Host-

fest, especially meeting

Daniel O’Donnell.

She was a social but-

terfly and was very kind

hearted, taking care of

neighbors, friends and

family, putting everyone’s

needs ahead of her own.

She always had the cof-

feepot on with some

baked goodies ready for

anyone who stopped in to

visit. You came as a

friend, left as family. She

was Grandma Ruthie to

not only her own family,

but to many, many, peo-

ple.

Her biggest attribute in

her life was her family

and she was so proud of

each and every one of

them.

Those who were so

privileged to have shared

in her life include sons

Dennis (Jacki) Deaver,

Berthold, and Danny

(Debbie) Deaver, Berthold;

daughters LaVonne (Ken)

Hornberger, Berthold, Lin-

da (Glenn) Stockdill,

Garrison, Lori (Panch)

Harshaw, Berthold, and

Leanne (Mark) Brossart,

Minot; 14 grandchildren;

45 great-grandchildren,

along with a number of

nieces, nephews and

cousins.

Ruth was preceded in

death by her husband,

parents, sister Esther

Haider and brothers, Rag-

nar and Willie Trondson.
