Darlene L. Myers

Darlene L. Myers, 88,

Carpio, formerly of Bert-

hold, died Friday, July 3,

2020 at her son’s home

near Minot.

Darlene was born Janu-

ary 30, 1932 at Trinity

Hospital in Minot, North

Dakota, the daughter of

Arvid and Adeline

(Hagen) Gunderson. She

was raised on the family

farm north of Makoti and

educated at country

schools including Patton

School, North of Parshall,

Mccullough School in

Schiele Township, the

Lund Township school

and Underdahl School in

Linton township. She

completed her schooling

through 8th grade at the

Lund Township school.

She assisted on the farm

with cooking for the fami-

ly and hired help.

Darlene was united in

marriage to Benton Myers

on June 28, 1950 at Lake-

wood Park Bible Camp

near Devils Lake. They

made their home in vari-

ous places, including

Ryder, before settling on a

farm west of Berthold.

Along with raising their

five sons, Darlene and

Benton farmed and

ranched throughout the

years. After the boys

were grown and had their

own families, Darlene en-

joyed her first and only

job out of the home as a

housekeeper at Dakota

Inn. Benton died on

March 20, 2017. Darlene

moved to Carpio to live

with her son, Kalvin and

his family.

Darlene was a longtime

member of First Assembly

of God Church, Minot.

Her hobbies and interests

included: going to flea

markets, baking special

items, especially breads

and caramel rolls. She

was an avid reader. She

switched to audio books

when she lost her vision

to macular degeneration.

Even with poor eyesight,

she never lost her knack

for shopping. She loved

to sew and crochet, talk-

ing on the telephone with

friends, spending time

with her family and at-

tending grandchildren’s

events.

Small), Chase (Casey)

Myers, Christa (Trent)

Lowery & Connor Myers;

13 great grandchildren

and 1 great great

grandchild; brother, Andy

Gunderson, Berthold;

along with several broth-

ers & sisters in-law,

nieces, nephews and

cousins.

Darlene was preceded

in death by her parents;

husband of 66 years, Ben-

ton Myers; son, Garlan

Myers; brothers and

sisters-in-law, Jeannette

Gunderson, Rolland (Don-

na Rae) Myers, Alvin

(Doris) Myers, William

(Vivian) Myers, Raymond

(Vicky) Myers, George

Borgen, Gaillord Albert-

son and Lehman Myers.

Celebration of Life ser-

vice: Observing social dis-

tancing guidelines, a Cele-

bration of Darlene’s life

will take place on Tues-

day, July 7, 2020 at 11:00

a.m. in First Assembly of

God Church, Minot.

Interment: Wildrose

Cemetery, Berthold.

Visitation: Monday,

July 6, 2020 from

5:00-8:00 p.m. in Thomas

Minot.
