Lois Schmidt, 92,
Minot, ND, passed away
Friday, June 19, 2020, in
her son’s home in Bur-
lington, ND.
Lois Audrey Hyatt was
born December 1, 1927,
the daughter of Orlin and
Ella (Leder) Hyatt, in Rug-
by, ND. Lois moved
numerous times with her
family in her early years
to small towns in North
Dakota, due to her Dad’s
employment with the Soo
Line Railroad. Her high
school years were spent in
Alsen before finally set-
tling with her parents in
Tolley, ND in 1946.
Lois married Carl
Schmidt February 5, 1947,
in Billings, MT.
Shortly after, he began
his career with the Soo
Line Railroad. They made
their home in Tolley, ND,
until 1958, when they
moved to Lansford, ND.
After his retirement, they
moved to Minot in 1993.
Carl passed away No-
vember 20, 2019.
During the years Lois
lived in Tolley, she was a
member of the Methodist
church and the Ladies Aid
there.
Lois loved being a
homemaker and enjoyed
cooking and baking, al-
ways putting on a pot of
coffee for any visitors.
She also loved flower gar-
dening and shopping.
Her loving family in-
cludes: sons, David
Schmidt (Susan Carlson),
Fort Collins, CO, and Dan
Schmidt, Burlington;
daughters-in-law, Vicki
Schmidt; former
daughter-in-law, friend,
and special caregiver to
Lois, Mary Schmidt;
grandchildren, Ben McIn-
tosh (Bridgit Amstrup),
Heather (Gerad) Williams,
Matthew (Nicole)
Schmidt, Laura (Robert)
Heinle, and Elizabeth (Ja-
son) Trainer; 8
great-grandchildren; spe-
cial nephew, Ed (Betty)
Jensen, special cousin,
Jane Vaage.
Lois was preceded in
death by: her parents;
husband, of 72 years,
Carl; son, Gary; and
numerous cousins, nieces
and nephews.

tation will be held Thurs-
day, June 25, 2020, at
11:00 am
Thompson-Larson Fun-
eral Home Chapel, Minot.
Memorials: In lieu of
flowers, memorials are
preferred to donor’s
choice.
