Marilyn Anderson, 87,
Velva, ND, passed away
Saturday, May 23, 2020,
at Trinity Hospital in
Minot.
Marilyn Ann Logen was
born on January 19, 1933,
a daughter of Andrew and
Gilma (Nyhusmoen)
Logen, on the family farm
in Benson County, ND.
She was baptized at First
Lutheran Church in Shey-
enne, where she was
raised and educated. She
graduated from Sheyenne
High School in 1950. She
then attended Minot State
Teachers College, where
she received her Standard
Teaching Certificate. She
then taught for a short
time in a rural school.
On June 25, 1952, Mari-
lyn was united in mar-
riage to Clarence L.
Anderson in Sheyenne,
ND. They made their
home in Sheyenne, until
1971, when they moved to
Velva, ND. She taught pi-
ano lessons out of her
home and served as the
church organist at Oak
Valley Lutheran Church.
Clarence passed away
March 9, 1978.
Following her
husband’s death, Marilyn
continued to reside in
Velva and worked as a
bookkeeper at Farmer’s
Union Oil Company for
over 20 years.
Marilyn was a member
of the Oak Valley Luth-
eran Church, Velva,
where she was the church
organist until early 2019.
During this time, she
played for numerous wed-
dings, music festivals, the
ND State Fair, and funeral
services. She was also a
member of Sons of Nor-
way and the Velva
Woman’s Club.
She enjoyed reading
and was part of the
Readers Forum Book Club
and playing music. She
loved visiting and having
coffee with friends.
Her loving family in-
cludes: children, Carolyn
(Jim) Olson, Velva, David
(Linda) Anderson, Laguna
Niguel, CA, and Mark
(Jill) Anderson, Bismarck,
ND; grandchildren, Aaron
Olson, Bryan Olson, Eric
Anderson, Kaitlin Ander-
son, Ryan Anderson; 8
great-grandchildren;
sister-in-law, Muriel
Thoreson, Devils Lake,
ND; and numerous nieces,
nephews and cousins.
Marilyn was preceded
in death by her parents;
husband, Clarence; grand-
son, Nathan Olson; and
brothers, Donald and Al-
den Logen.

held Friday, May 29,
2020, at 11:00 am at Oak
Valley Lutheran Church,
Velva, ND.
Visitation: A private
family visitation will take
place at the
Thompson-Larson Fun-
eral Home in Velva, ND.
A Public Graveside Ser-
vice will be held on Fri-
day, May 29, 2020 at
11:45 am at the Velva
Community Cemetery,
Velva, ND. Due to the
Coronavirus Pandemic,
please observe social dis-
tancing.
Memorials: In lieu of
flowers, memorials are
preferred to Oak Valley
Lutheran Church, Velva
or the Valley View Manor
Assisted Living in Velva.
