Sharon DesRoches, 77,

Minot, ND, passed away

Friday, February 21, 2020

at a Minot hospital.

Sharon was born No-

vember 1, 1942 in Nome,

North Dakota to Thorvold

and Eileen (Thorson) Vee.

She was raised in the

Enderlin area, graduating

from Enderlin High

School. After graduation,

she worked for a while

with her aunt, Mertz

Johanson, at her jewelry

shop.

On November 26, 1960,

she was united in mar-

riage to Ronald DesRoches

at St. John’s Catholic

Church in St. John, North

Dakota. In 1963, the

young couple moved to

the Minot area for a short

time before beginning a

journey that took them

through various towns in

Montana, North Dakota,

and South Dakota. They

finally settled down in

Minot in 1970 and have

lived here ever since.

Sharon was a

well-rounded individual

who was always doing

something. She loved her

life as a housewife caring

for her husband and three

children. Sharon was an

excellent cook who prided

herself on her lefse and

Christmas cookies. She

also enjoyed canning,

sewing, quilting, and

crafts. Her family will al-

ways remember the tool

kit she kept under the

kitchen sink to fix various

things around the house.

When she was younger,

she enjoyed gardening

and was an excellent

bowler. Sharon also en-

joyed hunting, fishing and

playing cards.

Faith and friendship

were very important to

Sharon. She carried her

faith with her wherever

she went and was always

driving her friends wher-

ever they needed to go or

be there for you whenever

you needed. She was a

member of St. Leo the

Great Roman Catholic

Church Ladies Auxiliary

and the VFW.

Sharon is survived by

her husband of 59 years,

Ronald; daughter, Joleane

“Jo” (Mohamed) Khalifa,

Westhope; sons, Lorn (Co-

rinna) and Vern (Mar)

DesRoches, both of Minot;

brother, Rick (Judy) Vee;

sisters, Sandy (Mark)

Cummings and Gloria

Foxx; 10 grandchildren; 7

great-grandchildren; and

numerous nieces,

nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in

death by her parents; sis-

ter, Charlotte Porter; and

brother, Larry Vee.

A Mass of Christian

Burial will take place on

Friday, February 28, 2020

at 10:30 am at St. Leo the

Great Roman Catholic

Church in Minot. Burial

will follow at Rosehill

Memorial Park in Minot.

Visitation will be on

Thursday, February 27,

2020 from 5-7 pm at

Thompson-Larson Fun-

eral Home in Minot with a

Rosary service to begin at

7 pm. Those wishing to
