Robert “Bob” Frantsvog
Sr., 78, of Minot ND,
passed away on Monday,
February 17, 2020, at
Trinity Homes in Minot,
North Dakota.
Robert Engvald
Frantsvog was born in
Drake, North Dakota, to
Engvald and Ida (Kvam)
Frantsvog on May 27,
1941. Robert went to
school in Butte, North
Dakota, graduating in
1959. After graduating
from high school, Bob at-
tended Minot State
University for one year
and then decided to join
the U.S. Military. Bob
served in the U.S. Army
from 1961 to 1962 and
then he went on to serve
in the Army National
Guard from 1962 to 1967.
He married Sandy Lou
Hoffer on January 14,
1967, at St. Paul’s Luth-
eran Church in Butte,
North Dakota. He graduat-ed from Minot State
University in 1972 with a
degree in Finance. Bob
worked for the City of
Minot for 35 years, retir-
ing in 2006 as the City Fi-
nance Director. After re-
tiring, Bob served in the
North Dakota House of
Representatives from 2009
to 2016. Bob was involved
in many activities includ-ing Kiwanis Club of
Minot, the North Dakota
League of Cities, the ND
Insurance Reserve Fund,
the Minot Wrestling
Boosters, and he was a
longtime member of St.
Mark’s Lutheran Church.
Bob was an amazing hus-
band, father and friend.
He left a lasting impres-
sion on all that knew him,
and he will be truly
missed.
Bob is preceded in
death by: his son, Robert
Frantsvog, Jr.; Robert’s
parents, Ida and Engvald
Frantsvog; two brothers,
Darold Frantsvog and
Robert’s twin brother,
Richard Frantsvog; his
mother-in-law and
father-in-law, Arnold and
Bertha Hoffer;
sisters-in-law, Karen
(Hoffer) Bredine, Elaine
(Hoffer) Hartzell, Linda
(Hoffer) Close, Margaret
(Hoffer) Rodgers, and
Valorayne (Christianson)
Frantsvog;
brothers-in-law, Jeff
Hoffer, Lyle Hoffer, Ole
Hoime, and Boyd
Hartzell; and numerous
nieces, nephews and
cousins.
Robert is survived by:
his wife of 53 years, San-
dy Frantsvog; their chil-
dren, Travis (Ginger)
Frantsvog, Dean (Sara)
Frantsvog, Becky (Terry)
Lee, and David (Shanda)
Frantsvog; 16 grandchil-
dren; two
great-grandchildren; his
brother, Eldred (Nancy)
Frantsvog; his sister,
Elaine Hoime; his
sisters-in-law, Betty
Frantsvog, Lynette (Rick)
Stensby, Lyla Hoffer, and
Sharon Hoffer;
brothers-in-law, Loren
(Anita) Hoffer, Joel (Rae)
Hoffer; and numerous
friends, nieces, nephews,
and cousins.
Funeral: Monday,
February 24, 2020, at
11:00 a.m. at St. Mark’s
Lutheran Church, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill
Memorial Park, Minot,
ND.
Visitation: Sunday from
1 to 4 p.m. at
Thompson-Larson Fun-
eral Home, Minot.
