Louis J. Siverling, 94,
Minot, ND, passed away
Saturday, January 18,
2020, at Minot Health and
Rehab.
Louie was born April 6,
1925, the son of Louis and
Donalda Siverling, in
Minot. He was reared and
educated in Minot gra-
duating from Minot High
School in 1943.
He enlisted in the Unit-
ed States Navy on Febru-
ary 4, 1943 and spent
three years during WWII.
He was discharged on
February 24, 1946 as a
Boatswains Mate Second
Class.
Louis married Vera
Zahnow and had two chil-
dren, Danny and Susan.
Vera passed away on
February 26, 1961.
On July 21, 1966, he
married Marion Pettis and
they made their home in
Minot. Marion passed
away on December 20,
2004.
Louie was a switchman
and brakeman for the Bur-
lington Northern Railway
and later Amtrak, retiring
after forty years of service.
Louie was a member of
First Lutheran Church,
Minot, The United Tran-
sportation Union, the
American Legion, the Last
Man’s Club and the VFW
(Veterans of Foreign
Wars.)
Surviving family in-
cludes: children, Louis
Danny (Carol) Siverling,
Edmonds, WA and Susan
L. (Burt) Olson, Minot,
ND; Stepsons, Robert
(Gaye) Pettis, Spokane,
WA. and Dean (Betty)
Pettis, Billings, MT and
former daughter-in-law,
Diane Pettis, Seattle, WA.
Many grandchildren,
great-grandchildren,
nieces and nephews also
survive.
Louis was preceded in
death by: his parents;
wives, Vera and Marion;
stepson, Gary Pettis; sis-
ters, Lorraine (Dick) Vogel
and Kathleen.
There will be a private
interment at Rosehill
Memorial Park, Minot, ND
later this year.
In Lieu of Flowers and
Plants, memorials are pre-
ferred to First Lutheran
Church, Minot or the
donor’s choice.
