Dorothy Knutson
May 8, 1931-Jan. 25, 2020
Dorothy Irene (Lake-
field) Knutson, 88, Sher-
wood, went home to her
Lord and Savior on Sa-
turday, Jan. 25, 2020.
She was born to George
and Cora (Armstrong)
Lakefield on May 8, 1931,
on the family farm. She
grew up on their farm
near Sherwood and gra-
duated from Sherwood
High School in 1949. One
week after her high school
graduation, she married
her lifetime sweetheart,
Trygve Knutson, on June
5, 1949, in Sherwood.
Trygve lovingly called her
“his bride” thereafter. To-
gether, Trig and Dorothy
raised six children be-
sides babysitting for
several grandchildren and
neighbors. She was a
wonderful wife, mother,
grandmother,
great-grandmother and
great-great-grandmother.
Dorothy enjoyed sew-
ing, quilting, gardening
and cooking and baking
with her best friend Eun-
ice Kosel. It was not
unusual for Dorothy to
sew all night to make sure
one of her children had a
special outfit for the next
day. Dorothy also worked
at the Good Samaritan
Nursing Home for many
years as a CNA and also
in activities.
Dorothy was a member
of Our Savior Lutheran
Church and the Ladies
Aid. Dorothy felt her cal-
ling in life was to ensure
that her family and those
that crossed her path
knew the message of sal-
vation and the love of a
personal relationship with
Christ. Not only did she
spread the “Good News”
through Sunday school
teaching, she lived by ex-
ample and encouraged her
family to seek strength
and wisdom through
prayer.

vived by her children,
