Beulah, ND, formerly of
Minot, ND, passed away
Friday, January 24, 2020,
at the Knife River Care
Center in Beulah, ND.
Darlene Agnes
Engelhard was born Au-
gust 16, 1940, the
daughter of Isidor and Al-
ice (Linnertz) Engelhard,
in Foxholm, ND. She was
raised and educated in
Foxholm, ND and gra-
duated from St. Leo’s
High School in Minot in
1958.
Darlene married Adam
Richter September 21,
1960, at St. Leo’s Catholic
Church in Minot, ND.
They made their home in
Selz, ND, where they
owned the Selz Bar. In
1970, they moved to
Minot, where she worked
at Knights of Columbus
and Red Owl. In 1985 she
went to work at Trinity
Medical Center where
she thoroughly enjoyed
her position as a surgical
tech. until she retired in
2005.
Adam passed away June
28, 1998. Following her
husband’s death, she con-
tinued to reside in Minot
until Sept. 2019, when
she became a resident of
the Knife River Care
Center in Beulah.
She was a member of
St. John the Apostle
Catholic Church in Minot.
She enjoyed playing
cards, doing crossword
puzzles and loved to be
outside, tending to her
rose garden, taking care of
her lawn, and walking.
Most of all, she enjoyed
spending time with her
family, especially her
grandchildren.
Darlene’s family would
like to thank the staff at
the Knife River Care
Center for their excep-
tional care they provided
for Darlene.
Her loving family in-
cludes: children, Lance
(Denise) Richter, Beulah,
ND, Lonna Richter, Tal-
lahassee, FL, Layne (Lau-
rie) Richter, Sioux Falls,
SD, Ladd (Carrie) Richter,
Harrison, AR; grandchil-
dren, Ryan Richter
(Kimberly Brandt), Ashley
(Jesse) Atkinson, Jordan
(Kelsey) Richter, Jason
(Mandy) Richter, Jacob
Richter (Marina Kremer),
Jazmin Richter, Alexandra
Richter, Adam Richter,
and Aggie Richter;
great-grandchildren,
Karver, Paislee and Haven
Atkinson; sisters, Theresa
(Jack) Savelkoul, Lolo,
MO, and Rita Engelhard,
Minot, ND; sister-in-law,
Audrey Engelhard, Minot,
ND; and numerous nieces,
nephews and cousins.
Darlene was preceded
in death by her parents;
husband, Adam; infant
son, Lyn Richter; sister,
Marian Engelhard; broth-
er, Elmer Engelhard.

2020, at 10:30 a.m. at St.
John the Apostle Catholic
Church, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill
Memorial Park, Minot,
ND.
Visitation: Thursday
from 5 to 7 p.m. at
