Dr. Larry Scouton

D.D.S., 72, longtime

Minot dentist died on Oc-

tober 29, 2019 in his

home.

Larry Donald Scouton

was born on July 29, 1947

in Minot to Donald L. and

Margaret (Olson) Scouton.

Margaret’s family was part

of the first settlers of

Minot. Larry was raised

and educated in Minot

and graduated from Minot

High School in 1965. He

continued his education

at the University of North

Dakota graduating in 1969

with a pre- med degree,

and at the University of

Minnesota College of Den-

tistry where he received

his Doctorate in Dental

Science in 1973. He en-

tered the U.S. Army Den-

tal Corps in 1973 and

served until 1975.

Dr. Scouton returned to

Minot and established his

dental practice on October

1, 1975 and continued to

practice until his retire-

ment a few years ago. He

was a member of the

American Dental Associa-tion as well as the state

and local dental associa-

tions.

Dr. Scouton was a form-

er member of the Iron-

wood Country Club in

Palm Desert, CA and the

Beaver Creek, CO Country

Club. He especially en-

joyed traveling, yachting

at Lake Sakakawea and

spending time at the fami-

ly lake home at Lake Meti-

goshe.

Dr. Scouton is survived

by his mother: Margaret

Scouton of Minot (who

died four days later),

brother Roger (Sue) Scou-

ton of Redondo Beach CA,

nephews Conrad Scouton

and Gavin Scouton, niece

Vanessa Scouton Yepez,

and uncle William Scou-

ton.

He was preceded in

death by his father

Donald Scouton.

Celebration of the Life

of Dr. Larry Scouton: De-

cember 13, 2019 at 10:00

a.m. in the chapel of the

Thomas Family Funeral

Home – Minot.

Interment will be in the

Olson family plot of

Rosehill Memorial Park –

Minot.

Visitation will be one

hour prior to the service.
