Matthew Brendsel
April 25, 2003-Nov. 12, 2019
Matthew Brendsel, 16,
Maxbass, ND, passed
away Tuesday, November
12, 2019, on a farm near
Maxbass as the result of a
farming accident.
Matthew was born,
April 25, 2003, the fourth
child of Doug and Dianne
(Carlson) Brendsel, in
Minot, ND. It was a joy-
ous occasion, the only son
and the youngest of four,
what a joy he was! He
adored his sisters when
he was young; soon adora-
tion turned to challenge,
and then into friendship
in progress. He was a
great brother and friend.
He loved all those in his
world. He spent countless
hours with his dad and
grandpa on the farm.
Then he went to school in
Mohall and made tons of
lifelong friends. He loved
being at school for social
and sporting events, parti-
cipating in basketball,
football and golf. He also
enjoyed archery at Bethel
in Antler.
His true passion was
cows, Black Angus. He’d
talk about the cows for
hours. He loved to
research genetics, birth
weight, etc. He truly
found it fascinating and
thought there must be
something wrong with
those of us who don’t.
He did love down time –
sitting on the back deck
with the dogs and family,
watching the sunset, talk-
ing and being quiet. He
loved the farm life and all
the equipment. He cer-
tainly had a “more power
more speed” mentality.
Sometimes riding on the
four-wheeler with him
was rough!
He loved walking at
night with the dogs with
his mom. On our walks
he’d at times talk about
what he was learning and
working through with his
faith in Christ and how it
impacted in his life. He
was growing.
He attended First Bap-
tist Church, Minot where
he was involved in AWA-
NA and youth group.
Matthew was a member of
FFA, and The Angus As-
sociation.
