Gerry was born at home
near Leroy, ND to Arthur
Beaudoin and Agnes
(Longtin) Beaudoin on Oc-
tober 12, 1927. She was
raised in the Leroy and
Walhalla areas and was
the third oldest of eleven
children. Gerry was bap-
tized and received first
communion at St. Boni-
face Catholic Church,
Walhalla. As a child, her
spirit of determination
helped her survive both
polio and diphtheria.
Gerry’s mother died
unexpectedly in June
1943. Being the oldest si-
bling at home, she quit
school to care for her
eight younger siblings.
Hoping to be a teacher
someday, Gerry regretted
having to quit school, but
willingly took on cooking,
cleaning, and caretaking
responsibilities for the
family.
Gerry married Curtis W.
Herman at St. Boniface
Catholic Church on De-
cember 20, 1948. They
were married for 66 years
until his death in June
2015. They raised five
children while living in a
number of ND towns.
During her lifetime, Gerry
worked in potato fields
and in a school library.
She also worked as a
waitress, cashier, and
childcare provider.
Her kind and generous
spirit showed in the time
and energy given to oth-
ers. She was a dedicated
wife, supporting her
husband’s career in edu-
cation, and an
ever-present encourager
of her children in their
school, 4-H, and church
activities. She could al-
ways be seen at her
grandchildren’s school
and sporting events.
Gerry enjoyed family
gatherings and travelling
to many states with her
husband and children.
She also enjoyed ceram-
ics, Whist and Blitz card
games, reading, and danc-
ing. In later years, she
could be found watching
Twins games and Hall-
mark movies. She was in-
volved in Homemakers,
American Legion Auxili-
ary, Ward County Senior
Citizens, and
church-related activities.
Gerry was preceded in
death by: her husband
Curtis, her parents and
mother and father-in-law,

son Brian Langemo.
