Steven M. Cordner
Nov. 14, 1964-Aug. 16, 2019
Steven Mark Cordner,
54, Surrey, ND, formerly
of Glenburn and Minot,
died Friday, August 16,
2019, at his home sur-
rounded by his loving
family.
Steve was born No-
vember 14, 1964, at Bal-
timore, Maryland, the son
of Thomas and Audrey
(Newnam) Cordner. His
family moved to North
Dakota when he was
young, with Steve being
raised and educated at
Glenburn. He graduated
from Glenburn High
School in 1983 and at-
tended NDSCS in Wahpe-
ton for HVAC Refrigera-
tion.
Steve was united in
marriage to the love of his
life Charlene Olafson on
September 10, 1983, in
Minot. He was employed
with Refrigeration Equip-
ment/Dakota Refrigeration
for 30 years until retiring
recently due to ill health.
They would have cele-
brated 36 years of mar-
riage next month.
Throughout their married
lives, Steve and Charlene
made their home in Minot
and later moved to Surrey
after the flood of 2011.
They welcomed a
daughter, Carissa Mae, on
February 12, 1984. His
greatest honor in life was
getting to be called dad
and later papa to his 3
granddaughters. He loved
all “his girls” and how
they loved him! He loved
teaching them many of
life’s lessons.
Steve enjoyed drag rac-
ing, hunting, playing pool
and poker and spending
time in his garage working
on his beloved 1969
camaro, along with enter-
taining family and
friends. He was very
proud of his first place
finish in the 701 Outlaws
in 2018 at the Magic City
Dragway. He was able to
go on 3 vacations this
summer, checking off
many things on his bucket
list. He was an amazing
husband, dad, papa, son,
brother, uncle and friend
to anyone he met. He will
be deeply missed by all.
