Eugene J. Brandt, 90,

Minot, passed away

peacefully on Sunday,

August 18, 2019 at Trinity

Hospital in Minot.

Eugene Brandt, son of

Reinhold and Rose (Ehlke)

Brandt, was born June 4,

1929 on the Schroeder

farmstead near Kramer,

ND where he grew up and

attended country school.

On June 11, 1950 he

was united in marriage to

Ardella Michalenko at

Kief. He entered the Unit-

ed States Marines in Janu-

ary of 1952 and served his

country during the Korean

War. Upon receiving his

honorable discharge in

January of 1954, they

made their home in Kief

where he managed the

Kief Elevator for several

years. They then moved

to Minot where Eugene

worked for Northern Bot-

tling Co. and later Fair-

mount Creamery before

accepting a position with

Old Dutch Co. where he

was employed for 28

years before retiring.

Gene was an avid out-

doorsman who enjoyed

fishing and loved to hunt.

He especially enjoyed

spending time at his

“happy hunting grounds,”

the Butte area. He was an

active member of the

Lawrence E. Meidl Ameri-

can Legion Post #270 of

Butte for 42 years. His

family all felt that the last

celebration of his life

should be held in the

place he held so dear to

his heart.

Gene is survived by: his

devoted, loving wife Ar-

della, with whom he cele-

brated their 69th wedding

anniversary this past

June. He is also survived

by their three children

who he and Ardella have

loved and supported and

who felt fortunate to call

them their parents, their

daughter Wanda

(DeWayne) Scherr of rural

Hazelton and two sons,

Ronald (Kathy) Brandt of

Mandan and Jeffrey (Wen-

dy) Brandt of Bismarck.

Also surviving are 10

grandchildren; 19

great-grandchildren; and 2

sisters, Eleanor Troop of

Oklahoma and Margie

Miltenberger of Arizona.

Gene was preceded in

death by: his parents and

3 brothers, Marvin, Or-

ville and Glenn.

Funeral: Saturday, Au-

gust 24, at 11:00 A.M. at

the Butte American Le-

gion Hall

Visitation: Friday from

5 P.M. to 7 P.M. followed

by a 7 P.M. prayer service

at the Nelson Funeral

Home in Drake.

Burial: Hazelton City
