Ronald “Ron” Domsteen

Ronald ‘Ron’ Domsteen,

81, Minot, passed away

unexpectedly, Friday, July

12, 2019 in a Minot hospi-

tal.

Ronald was born June

26, 1938 in Columbus,

North Dakota to Jonas and

Emma (Stensrude) Doms-

teen. He grew up in the

communities of Columbus

and Velva, ND. He gra-

duated from Velva High

School in 1956.

Shortly after high

school Ron began his em-

ployment with Truax

Traer Coal later known as

Consolidation Coal in Vel-

va. Following the closure

of the mine he was

transferred within the

company to a branch in

southern Illinois. He re-

tired as office manager in

1993.

Ron returned to North

Dakota and lived in Hazen

briefly before moving to

Minot. He held many

part-time positions at

various local businesses

that included the Minot

Daily News, Community

Action, Cookies For You

and Morgan Printing dur-

ing his semi-retired years.

He connected with the

community of Minot, the

people and all it had to

offer for entertainment

and sports. He was

known by many for his

genuine and sweet soul.

Ron was once joined in

marriage to Marie Kern.

This union was blessed

with two children,

Timothy and Michelle

who joined Selena, Vicki,

Gary and Teresa along

with numerous grandchil

dren and

great-grandchildren. He

valued the relationships

he created with his ex-

tended family his entire

life.

He was a member of the

Moose Lodge and Eagles

Aerie, and was a staple of

the Parker Senior Center,

all in Minot. He loved

spending time with his

grandchildren, who he

adored and fully support-

ed. Ron loved all sports,

plain and simple. Sum-

mers were spent cheering

on the Twins and the Vik-

ings continued to break

his heart year after year.

In honor of Ron and his

passion for sports please

brate his life.

Ronald is survived by

his children Tim (Bonnie)

Domsteen, Minot and

Michelle (Marcus) Carter,

Minot; 8 grandchildren,

Terrell, Tiyah, Blaize,

Taniah, Brice, Tayvon,

Tamari and Tamia; sister

Alelene Miller, Hazen, ND

and numerous nieces and

nephews.

Ron was preceded in

death by his parents, sis-

ter Joyce Anderson and

brother-in-law Walter

Anderson and brother

Donald Domsteen.

Life: 1:00 p.m. Friday,

July 19, 2019 at the Tho-

mas Family Funeral

Home, Minot.

Visitation will be held

Thursday, July 18, 2019

from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00

p.m. at the Thomas Fami-

ly Funeral Home, Minot.
