Marcia Raszler
Dec. 16, 1941 - July 13, 2019
Marcia Raszler, 77,
Minot and formerly of
Ryder, ND went home to
the Lord on Saturday, July
13, 2019 while holding
her husband’s hand in a
Minot hospital.
Marcia was born De-
cember 16, 1941 in Minot,
ND, to Kenneth and Myr-
tle (Ronning) Hanson. She
was united in marriage to
Ernest Raszler on Sep-
tember 25, 1960. They
made their home on a
farm near Ryder, with
their 3 sons Ken, Jim and
Dwight, where they
farmed and ranched for
over 50 years. Marcia
loved her garden and it’s
generous produce. All of
these items were pro-
cessed and put away for
the winter. In 1985, they
moved to Minot, where
they filled the house with
day-care kids. She loved
each one of them with her
strong influence and left a
lasting mark on them.
Many of these are now
grown, but have never for-
gotten her mark on their
life.
Marcia was awarded the
Mother of the Year in
2013 from the ND Ameri-
can Mother’s Association.
As a talented quilt maker,
all of her family members
received quilts for gradua-
tion, wedding and other
special events. She spent
countless hours piecing
one or two together at a
time. Each and every
stitch was made with
love. At the age of 16, she
developed polio which
took the use of her left
arm. It is hard for her
family to believe all that
she was able to accom-
plish throughout the years
with only one arm! The
death of her son, James in
2001 was extremely diffi-
cult for her to accept.
She made the statement
that no parent should ever
have to experience this.
We can see her smiling
now after being reunited
with her beloved son, Jim.
Marcia was a member
of Rose Valley Lutheran
Church, Des Lacs since
her birth, where she
served as the Sunday
School Superintendent
and was active for many
years with the vacation
Bible school. Marcia was
member of the Hill Coun-
try and Borderline
Homemaker’s Clubs for
many years and was an
officer in the Ward Coun-
ty Homemaker’s Associa-
tion.
