Mattern, 97, Antler, died
Wednesday, July 17, 2019,
at a Minot hospital.
She was born Sept. 25,
1921, in rural Sherman
Township, Bottineau
County, a daughter of Ed
and Bertha (Stensland)
Peterson. She graduated
from Mohall High School
in 1939, and earned a
standard teaching certifi-
cate from Minot State
University. She taught
school at the Renville
Corner School.
Delores married
Laurence F. Mattern Feb.
25, 1946, in Glasgow,
Mont. They lived in the
Portland, Ore., area prior
to returning to the Antler
area where she taught at
the Sherman Township
School. They lived in
Mohall for a time, prior to
purchasing the August
Nelson farm in 1949. She
taught in Maxbass and
Antler. She was the su-
perintendent of the Antler
School until she retired.
Laurence died Feb. 11,
2002. Delores continued
living on the farm until
three months ago.
Delores was a member
of the Bethel Lutheran
Brethren Church, rural
Antler, and The Willing
Workers. She also sang in
the church choir and
served as the Sunday
school superintendent for
50 years. She was a
member of a local
homemakers club and
served as a Cub and Boy
Scout leader. She en-
joyed knitting, crocheting,
reading and bird watch-
ing.

day, July 22, 2019, at
Bethel Lutheran Brethren
Church, rural Antler.
