Funeral services for Ma-
bel Mae Brossart, age 75
of Westhope, were held
on Wednesday, June 26,
2019 at 11:00 am at the
First Presbyterian Church
in Westhope. Randy
Kimpland officiated the
service and Darlene Cam-
eron was the organist.
Casket bearers were all of
Mabel’s grandchildren.
Burial was at the
Westhope Cemetery.
Mabel, the daughter of
Mark and Lillian (Willi-
ams) Hawker, was born in
Westhope, ND on June 18,
1944. She married Herbert
Eugene Sem on November
2, 1963. They lived in
Westhope and had three
children Lorelei, Kelly
and Traci. Herb died on
July 18,1974.
She later married and
divorced Orlan Foss. They
had one son, Kendall. On
July 20, 1990 she married
Robert Brossart. They
continued to live in
Westhope until she was
moved to a Minot nursing
home in 2014.
Mabel loved her family
and not only did she raise
them, but she helped to
raise the many children
she babysat. She loved
her coffee and always had
a fresh pot brewing for
her friends if they should
happen to stop by. Baking
was one of her passions
and it was not uncommon
to get a fresh bun or
caramel roll with your
coffee. She and Bob en-
joyed spending time at the
fishing shack at Brendle’s
Bay during the summer.
Mabel passed away on
Friday, June 21, 2019 at a
Minot nursing home.
Mabel is survived by:
her husband, Robert Bros-
sart, her children Lorelei
(Carl) Gorski, Kelly (Lana)
Sem, Traci (Robert) Holm,
Kendall (Chantelle) Foss,
stepchildren; Barry
(Roberta) Brossart, Kevin
(Teresa) Brossart, Barb
(Richard) Winking, Karla
Terry and a number of
grandchildren, step-
grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Mabel was preceded in
death by: her parents
Mark and Lillian Hawker,
husband Herb Sem, sis-
ters Ruth and Lois.
Arrangements were
with Nero Funeral home
