Irene B. Lewis, 100,
Kenmare, ND, passed
away Saturday, June 15,
2019, at the Kenmare
Community Hospital.
Irene Lewis was born
June 1, 1919, the daughter
of William and Alice
(Block) Lewis, in Ken-
mare, ND. She was raised
on the Lewis family farm,
where she assisted her
parents with the operation
of the family farm. She at-
tended both Greenbush
Township School and
Sauk Prairie Township
School in the Kenmare
area and graduated from
Kenmare High School.
She began her career as
a caregiver for various
families in the
Kenmare/Carpio areas.
She then began working
at the Kenmare Baptist
Home, where she worked
as a caregiver for over 30
years.
She was a member of
Nazareth Lutheran
Church in Kenmare,
where she was active in
the Eunice Circle. Things
that meant a lot to Irene
were her faith, her family
and friends, and the farm.
She enjoyed cooking, gar-
dening, reading, and bird
watching. She loved an-
imals.
Surviving family in-
cludes: nieces, Janice (Ar-
vid) Ness, Grafton, ND,
and JoAnn (Byron) Ker-
baugh, Kenmare; two
great-nephews, John (Jen-
nifer) Ness and Matthew
Ness; Special cousin, Dar-
rel (Sandra) Block, Carpio;
as well as several cousins.
Irene was preceded in
death by: her parents;
brother, Robert Lewis; sis-
ters, Margaret Lewis and
Marion Berg.
Funeral: Saturday, June
22, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at
Nazareth Lutheran
Church, Kenmare.
Interment: Lakeview
Cemetery, Kenmare, ND.
Visitation: Saturday one
hour prior to the service
at the church.
