Betty Johnson
Feb. 24, 1933 - June 2, 2019
Betty J. Johnson
“graduated to heaven”
peacefully at her home.
One of 11 children born to
Gordon and Ruth (Munro)
Lucht in Muskegon
Heights, MI, she enjoyed
her childhood in Michi-
gan prior to the family’s
move to North Dakota
when she was 13 years
old. After receiving her di-
ploma, she had various
jobs in Minot, ND prior to
her marriage.
She married Lloyd
Johnson and they farmed
in Garrison, ND. They had
4 children, Lloyd “Ole”,
Susan “Suzie”, Carolyn
“Carrie”, and Barney. Bet-
ty raised her children in
Minot, ND where she was
active in her church, was
a longtime baker, and a
caregiver to young and
old.
Betty moved to Virginia
in 1990 where Suzie and
her family live and then
on to Oswego, NY in
1994, where Barney and
his family live. It is in
Oswego where Betty was
best known for selflessly
serving God at Oswego
Alliance Church. Putting
Christ first in all she did,
Betty was devoutly faith-
ful to God and her family,
was constantly helpful to
others, always had an en-
couraging word to share,
and had an incredibly
sweet, kind, and gentle
spirit. She was
well-known for being a
faithful prayer warrior.
She loved playing piano
at local nursing homes, at
the Salvation Army, and
at senior residence facili-
ties. She was thrilled to
see others respond joyful-ly in hearing songs from
their youth.
Her daughter, Carrie
Harris, preceded her in
death in July, 2018.
She is survived by her
son, Ole Johnson, Fargo,
ND; daughter, Susan
(Mitchell) Burcham,
Hayes, VA; son Barney
(Michelle) Johnson,
Oswego, NY; her 10
grandchildren: Justin,
Jared, and Jenna Burc-
ham; Alesia, David (Tif-
fany), Benjamin (Nadia),

(Stephen) Syrell, Amber
Johnson, and Chelsea
(Kyle) Rehnlund; 7
great-grandchildren; one

from Zanesville, OH;
