Alma “Jean” Pierson

Jean Pierson, 90, Coon

Rapids, MN, formerly of

Minot, ND, passed away

suddenly and unexpect-

edly on March 22, 2019 at

the Homestead Nursing

Home in Coon Rapids,

MN after a short illness

with pneumonia and oth-

er complications.

Jean was born on May

22, 1928 in Mohall, ND to

Rolland Drew Johnson

and Neltah G. (Copeland)

Johnson. She lived in

Mohall with her parents

and older sisters, Dorothy

and Caryl until 1929

when they moved to Min-

neapolis, MN. Her

younger sister Norma Lee

was born March 28, 1932

in Minneapolis and soon

the five of them moved to

Glenburn, ND, where her

brother, Garth was born

on March 15, 1933. Jean

started school in 1934 in

Glenburn. In 1946 the

family minus Caryl

moved to Rugby, ND

where Jean graduated in

the spring of 1947. The

family again moved to

Barlow, ND.

Jean married Alvin Pier-

son on May 2, 1953 in

Williston and soon moved

to Minot where her and

Alvin worked at the Farm-

ers Union Elevator. They

had four children, son

Gary was born September

21, 1960, daughter, Laurie

was born August 9, 1962,

son Allen was born June

23, 1964 and the youngest

son Jeffrey was born De-

cember 2, 1967. All four

children graduated from

Minot High School.

Jean continued to work

after Alvin’s death in

1982. She later moved

into the Milton Young

Towers in 1994. Wanting

to be closer to her chil-

dren, Jean moved to Coon

Rapids, MN in 2012.

Jean was preceded in

death by her parents, Rol-

land and Neltah; her hus-

band, Alvin; sisters,

Dorothy, Norma and

Caryl; and her parents-

in-law, Matilda and Gust

Pierson.

Her loving family in-

cludes: daughter, Laurie;

sons, Gary, Alan and Jef-

frey; grandchildren, Kel-

sie, Brenner, Jonathon,

Andrew, Hannah, Alan,

Jr. and Katie; great-grand-

children, Lucas and Lin-

coln; brother, Garth; half-

brother, Elwyn Copeland;

and several nieces and

nephews.

Jean will be laid to rest

next to her husband Alvin

on April 27, 2019, 1:00

p.m. at Sunset Memorial

Gardens, Minot.
