Lawrence Savchenko,

97, Bismarck, formerly of

Minot, passed away Fri-

day, March 8, 2019 at his

home at Touchmark in

Bismarck.

Lawrence Savchenko,

son of Sam and Mary

(Lakoduk) Savchenko,

was born July 8, 1921 at

Makoti, ND where he

lived his first years and

received his early educa-

tion. Following the death

of Lawrence’s father in

1927, the family remained

in Makoti until 1933

when they moved to

Anamoose where

Lawrence attended

Anamoose Public School.

On July 7, 1942,

Lawrence entered the Un-

ited States Marine Corps

and served his country

during WWII. Following

his honorable discharge in

July of 1946, he began

working as a lineman for

independent contractors

in locations throughout

the United States includ-

ing South Dakota, Colora

do, Minnesota and Oregon

before accepting a posi-

tion as lineman for the

Minot Air Force Base

where he was employed

until his retirement.

Lawrence was a faithful

member of the

Seventh-day Adventist

Church his entire adult

life.

He had many interests

which included garden-

ing, bowling, golfing, fish-

ing and hunting. In his

later years he enjoyed

puzzles and taught him-

self to crochet.

Lawrence was preced-

ed in death by: his

parents; his stepfather,

Matt Masloff; 2 sisters,

Rose Zuther and Florence

Ewert; and 4 brothers,

Mike, Edward & Sam

Savchenko and Donald

Mosloff.

He is survived by: his

brother, Harold Masloff of

Portland, OR and

numerous nieces &

nephews and great nieces

& nephews.

Funeral: Tuesday,

March 12, 2019 at 11:00

A.M. at the Minot

Seventh-day Adventist

Church in Minot.

Visitation: One hour

prior to the funeral ser-

vice at the church on

Tuesday.

Burial: Butte Cemetery

in Butte, ND.
