Dallas Larson, 85,
Heimdal, passed away Sa-
turday, December 29,
2018 at CHI St. Alexius
Health in Bismarck.
Dallas Elaine Hakanson,
daughter of Victor and
Esther (Dahlstrom)
Hakanson, was born Sep-
tember 1, 1933 on her
parents farm south of
Maddock where she grew
up and attended the near-
by Quarve #2 country
school through the eighth
grade. She then attended
Benson County Agricul-
tural and Training School
in Maddock, graduating in
1951. In September of that
year, Dallas accepted a
part time position at the
Haukness Store in Mad-
dock, which soon turned
into a full time position.
The store changed owner-
ship and names through
the years, from the Hauk-
ness Store, to the Johnson
Store and finally to
Orvik’s Clothing. Dallas
continued to work at the
store for over 35 years, re-
tiring in December of
1986. In addition to work-
ing at the store, Dallas
cared for her parents for
many years.
On February 14, 1972,
Dallas was united in mar-
riage to Raymond Larson
in The Little Brown
Church in the Vale at
Nashua, Iowa. They made
their home in Heimdal
where Dallas has resided
since. Raymond passed
away January 18, 2006.
Dallas was an active
member of the Viking
Lutheran Church and
sang in the church choir.
After moving to Heimdal,
she and Raymond attend-
ed the Hoff Lutheran
Church where she served
as secretary of the Ladies
Aide for a number of
years. She enjoyed bak-
ing, especially buns and
loved sharing them with
family and friends. She
also enjoyed dancing and
music, and taught herself
to play the piano and ac-
cordion.
She is survived by Ray-
monds children, David of
Fessenden, Cheryl (Roger)
Engelhardt of Black Hawk,
SD and Gail (Wesley)
Neuenschwander of Seat-
tle, WA; grandsons Ryan
Larson and Steven
Engelhardt; great-grand-
sons, Grady, Jaiden and
Ryder Larson; brother, Ar-
land Hakanson; nieces
and nephews; grandnieces
& grandnephews; great-
grandnieces & great-
grandnephews; a great-
great-grandnephew; and
many friends and ex-
tended family.
Dallas was preceded in
death by her husband,
Raymond and her parents,
Victor & Esther Hakanson.
Funeral: Friday, Janu-
ary 4, 2019 at 11:00 A.M.
at the Viking Lutheran
Church of rural Maddock.
Burial: Hillside
Cemetery in Fessenden.
