Leo Juergens Jr.

Leo A. Juergens Jr., 81,

Minot, died Thursday, De-

cember 27, 2018 in a

Minot hospital.

Leo was born January

26, 1937 in Minot, ND to

Leo E. and Edna (Peder-

son) Juergens. He attend-

ed grade school in Water-

ford Township of Ward

County and graduated

from Carpio High School

in 1955. He attended

Minot State Teacher’s Col-

lege for one year.

Leo enlisted into the US

Army on November 15,

1957. He completed his

active duty service in

1958 and was transferred

to reserve status. He re-

turned to North Dakota.

Leo was united in mar-

riage to Mary Thingvold

on May 22, 1960 in Bar-

ton, ND. They have

called Minot home their

entire lives. Leo was first

employed at Muus

Lumber for a couple of

years, prior to joining

General Trading Com-

pany. Leo retired as

manager of the business

after 37 years of service in

1997.

They wintered in Flori-

da during their retirement

years. He was a member

of St. Mark’s Lutheran

Church, Elks Lodge,

Moose Club, Eagles Aerie

and the American Legion,

all of Minot.

Leo enjoyed traveling,

miniature toy collecting,

painting, word searches

and loved spending time

with a book. He will be

missed by all who shared

in his life.

Leo’s family includes:

his loving wife of 58

years, Mary Juergens,

Minot; brothers, Curtis

(Ruth) Juergens and Wes-

ley (Judy) Juergens, both

of Minot along with

numerous nieces and

nephews.

Leo was preceded in

death by: his parents, and

his brother, Richard Juer-

gens and sister-in-law, Ju-

lie Juergens.

Funeral service: 11:00

a.m. Monday, December

31, 2018 at St. Mark’s

Lutheran Church, Minot.

Interment: Sunset

Memorial Gardens, Minot.

Visitation will be held

on Sunday, December 30,

2018 from 1:00 p.m. until

4:00 p.m. at the Thomas

Family Funeral Home,

Minot.

Memorials are preferred

St. Mark’s Lutheran

Church or to the Trinity

Hospital Foundation.
