Kenneth Keyes, 91,
Minot, passed away on
Wednesday, December 19,
2018, at a Minot hospital.
Ken was born on Oc-
tober 12, 1927, in Grand
Forks, North Dakota, to
Robert and Jennie (Hovin)
Keyes. At the age of one
his family moved to
Minot, where he would
live the rest of his life.
Ken graduated St. Leo’s
Catholic High School in
1947. He was employed
by the Great Northern
Railroad before entering
the Army in 1950. Ken
was honorably discharged
in 1952 and returned to
Minot, where he contin-
ued for Burlington North-
ern Railroad for over 40
years before retiring.
On June 13, 1955, at St.
Leo’s Catholic Church in
Minot he married Vivian
Brown. The couple made
their home in Minot and
raised 6 wonderful chil-
dren, Deborah, Janice,
Jeanette, Beverly, Timothy
and Pamela.
Ken loved playing golf
and was an avid hunter.
In addition, he also raised
horses. In his spare time
he engaged in many
woodworking and craft
projects. Ken was a
member of Our Lady of
Grace Catholic Church,
the American Legion, and
the VFW Club in Minot.
Ken is survived by his
wife Vivian; children Deb-
bie Keyes, Janice (Rick)
Bonebrake, Jeanette (Tim)
Brandt, Beverly (Curt)
Huus, Timothy Keyes,
and Pamela (Robb) Bred-
ing; 11 grandchildren; and
8 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in
death by his parents and
two brothers: Mervyn and
Robert Jr.
A Mass of Christian
Burial will take place on
Wednesday, December 26,
2018, at 11:00 am at Our
Lady of Grace Catholic
Church in Minot with
burial to follow at
Rosehill Memorial Park in
Minot. Visitation begins
one hour prior to the start
of the service. Those
