Mary Jane Bovee

Mary Jane Bovee, 86, of

Minot went to her heaven-

ly father on October 14,

2018 in Fargo.

Mary Parkhouse was

born on July 25, 1932 in

Arthur, ND, to James and

Vida (Viestenz) Park-

house. She attended

school in Arthur, Fargo

and Jamestown, and gra-

duated from Jamestown

High School.

Mary was united in

marriage to Charles Bovee

in Jamestown on February

8, 1950. Th1ey moved to

Minot where Charles

worked for the Great

Northern Railroad, which

later became the Burling-

ton Northern Railroad.

Together they raised their

family of four children.

Mary worked as a secre-

tary for Jay Monicken at

Monicken Insurance in

Minot for 25 years.

She was a current

member of Bethany Luth-

eran Church and a charter

member of the Sweet

Adeline’s. She enjoyed

her aquasize classes at the

YMCA, playing bingo and

pinochle, and shooting

pool in the Women’s

Queen Division and Old

Pro Leagues. She still

holds the title of the shuf-

fle board queen and en-

joyed time at Lake Saka-

kawea with family and

friends. Her family and

grandchildren were a very

important part of her life.

She always said, “It is

worth doing if it makes

people laugh.” Mary’s

compassion for others,

honesty, love and desire

for fun made her the

cornerstone of the family.

years, Charles; Daughter,

Susan Staiger and hus-

band Ron of Bismarck and

three children Jaeson

Swanson of Parker, CO,

Cassie Jeter and husband

Jamie of Mandan, and An-

drew Staiger of Bismarck;

Son, Charlie Bovee of

Minot, and daughter Allis-

on Bovee of Tioga; Son,

Steve Bovee and wife Sue

and daughter Kami

Roberts and husband

Daniel of Minot;

Daughter, Laurie

Schumaker and husband

Mark and son Justin

Wood and wife Becky of

Minot;

Great-grandchildren in-

cludes Parker Swanson,

Anna Staiger, Avery Jeter,

Kohlee and McClain

Roberts, Adalynne and

Dominic Wood; Brothers

Bruce and Gary of

Phoenix, AZ.

Mary was preceded in

death by her parents and

brothers, Vernon, Donald

and James Parkhouse; sis-

ter, Shirley Schlenvogt;

and also son-in-law, Jef-

frey Wood and grandson,

Steven Bovee Jr.

Thursday, October 18,

2018, at 11:00 a.m. at

Bethany Lutheran

Church, Minot.

Inurnment: Thursday,

October 18, 2018 at 1 pm

Sunset Memorial Gar-

dens, Minot, ND.

Visitation: Wednesday,

October 17, 2018 from

4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

at Thompson-Larson Fun-

eral Home, Minot.
