Dr. Garnet Seiffert

Dr. Garnet Seiffert, 85,

longtime Minot Dentist,

died on Monday, October

8, 2018 in a Bismarck hos-

pital.

Garnet Elliot Seiffert

was born on July 18, 1933

in Minot, ND to Garnet

and Loraine (Burns) Seif-

fert. He was raised and

educated in Minot, gra-

duated from Minot High

School in 1951 where he

was active in football,

basketball and baseball.

He was a member of the

1950 ND State Class A

Basketball Championship

team and was inducted

into the Minot High

School Athletic Hall of

Fame in 2006.

Garnie married his high

school sweetheart Jacque-

line Kemper on August

15, 1954 in Minot. Fol-

lowing his graduation

from the University of

North Dakota they resided

in Bowman, ND for a

short time where Garnie

taught math and science

and coached the basket-

ball team. He enrolled at

the Loyola University Col-

lege of Dentistry in Chi-

cago and graduated with

his Doctor of Dental Sur-

gery degree.

After graduation Garnie

and Jackie returned to

their hometown in 1963

and he established a den-

tal practice that continued

for forty-four years before

his retirement in 2007.

Garnie and Jackie enjoyed

eleven years in their lake

home at Lake Audubon

and for several years win-

tered in Arizona.

Garnie was a member of

the Minot Dental Associa-tion, Minot Rotary Club

and the Elks Lodge. His

greatest joys in life were

his wife, children and

dogs: Bummer, Molly,

Alex and Teddy. He espe-

cially enjoyed playing bil-

liards, hunting, golfing,

fishing, entertaining fami-

ly and friends at Lakes

Metigoshe and Audubon

and baking and sharing

his annual Christmas

fruitcake.

Garnie’s loving family

includes his wife of 64

years: Jackie; children:

Greg (Mary) Seiffert of

Fargo, Jane (Mike) Marum

of Mandan and Bradley

Seiffert of Henderson, NV;

grandchildren: Maria Seif-

fert and Chris (Miranda)

Seiffert; sister: Sharon

(John) Marshall of Foun-

tain Hills AZ; sister-in-

law: Jane (Doug) Frost of

White Bear Lake MN; dear

friends: Pam Haberman of

Minot and Trish Pitts of

Mandan and several

nieces, nephews and

cousins.

Garnie was preceded in

death by his parents and

sister: Shirley Norton.

tober 13, 2018 from 11:00

a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in

Thomas Family Funeral

Home – Minot.

Lunch and a celebra-

tion of Garnie’s life will

be on Saturday at 1:00

p.m. at Somerset Court –

1900 28th St. SW, Minot.
