Elmer Miller

Elmer Miller, 82, New
Town, died Sunday, April
15, 2018 in a Minot hospi-
tal. Elmer was born July 6,
1935 to Gothart and Helen
(Weidenmayer) Miller on
the family farm in Halli-
day.
He was raised and edu-
cated in Halliday, graduat-
ing from high school in
1953. He attended Moler
Barber College in Fargo
and moved to New Town
in 1954 for a barbering
job.
On August 22, 1955, El-
mer was united in mar-
riage to Dorothy Radke, in
Halliday. They made their
home in New Town
where Elmer was a barber
for over 30 years. After re-
tirement, he worked for 5
years at the lumber yard.
In the early 1990s, they
bought the liquor store on
Main Street, which they
operated for 15 years.
Elmer loved golfing and
spending time outdoors
gardening and doing yard-
work. He enjoyed his
morning coffee with his
friends. He also liked fish-
ing and spending time at
the lake. His true hobby
was woodworking and
carpentry. He was a
member of Bethel Luth-
eran Church, New Town
Chamber of Commerce,
and Edgewater Country
Club. His gentle laugh and
kind spirit will be missed.
Elmer is survived by
his wife, Dorothy; son,
Mike Miller (Jill) of Ger-
mantown, OH; daughters,
Terry Fisher (Mark) of
Harper, KS and Sherry
Locken (Jim) of New
Town; brothers, Hilbert
Miller and Rodney Miller,
both of Arizona and sister,
Elaine Huber of Bismarck;
8 grandchildren and 8
great-grandchildren. He
was preceded in death by
his parents and sister,
Eleanor Raesler.
