Eileen Bruce

Eileen A. Bruce, 89,

Minot, ND, passed away

Friday, April 20, 2018, at

Trinity Hospital in Minot.

Eileen A. Shourds was

born September 12, 1928,

the daughter of Ray E. and

Agnes E. (Lyons) Shourds,

in Lyon County near

Marshall, MN. She was

raised and educated in

Marshall and graduated

from Marshall High

School in 1946. Eileen

married Harold C. Bruce

April 27, 1948, at the

Cathedral of St. Francis,

Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Their son, Douglas, and

daughter, Jillane, were

born while living in Santa

Fe and Los Alamos, NM.

Due to Harold’s work with

the Atomic Energy Com-

mission, now known as

the Department of Energy,

they lived in many in-

teresting cities throughout

the years which included:

Bossier City, LA, Willi-

amsburg, VA, Geneva,

NY, Albuquerque, NM,

and Kansas City, MO.

They retired on April 30,

1978, while still living in

Kansas City. In 1980, they

moved to a home in the

country located near the

small town of Creighton,

MO, where they lived un-

til Harold’s death on

March 20, 2008.

Following her

husband’s death, she

moved to Minot, to be

closer to her daughter, Jill,

and her family. She made

her home at The View,

which Eileen said was a

comfortable, homey atmo-

sphere with the many

friends she made there.

She attended St. John the

Apostle Catholic Church.

Her loving family in-

cludes: son, Douglas A.

daughter, Jillane M. (Ar-

len) Boser, Minot; 5

grandchildren, Jeffrey

(Monica) Boser, Scott (Jes-

sie) Boser, Kristi (Dustin)

Boser Foell; Julie (Jeremy)

Bruce O’Connor, and Bri-

an (Lindsey) Bruce; 13

great-grandchildren,

Kolee, Brasen, Everett and

Cass Boser; Megan and

Andrew Boser; Elise, Reid

and Rhyen Foell; Mary,

Lauren, and John

O’Connor; and Daphne

Bruce.

Eileen was preceded in

death by: her parents;

husband, Harold; sister,

Emma Shourds Thoma-

son; brothers, John,

Robert and Raphael

Shourds.

Visitation: Monday,

April 23, 2018 from 4 to 6

p.m. at Thompson-Larson

Funeral Home, Minot.

Services: A Private

Family Mass of Christian

Burial will take place in

June of 2018 at St. John

the Apostle Catholic

Church in Minot.

Interment: Sunset

Memorial Gardens, Minot,

ND.
