Ruth V. Nelson

in her home

Ruth V. Derheim was

born on March 10, 1921,

the daughter of Jacob and

Christina (Bratzel)

Derheim in Lincoln Val-

ley, ND. She was raised

and educated in the Lin-

coln Valley area.

On January 7, 1946,

Ruth was united in mar-

riage to Irwin A. Nelson.

They made their home on

the Nelson family farm

where they farmed and

raised their three chil-

dren, Darold, Lorraine

and Cindy. The couple

later divorced. In 1981,

Ruth moved to Minot.

She was a member of

the Bethlehem Lutheran

Church, where she was

active as a Sunday School

teacher and in the ladies

circle. Ruth was also a

member of the homemak-

ers club and an active

bowler while in Roseglen.

She enjoyed cooking, gar-

dening, crocheting, quilt-

ing, doing floral arrange-

ments and spending time

with her family.

Ruth is survived by:

Daughters: Cynthia G.

Nelson, Minot; Lorraine J.

Yahnke, Bend, OR;

grandchildren: Sarah and

Melissa; and

great-granddaughter,

Kaiya. Several nieces and

nephews also survive.

Ruth was preceded in

death by: her parents;

husband, Irwin; son,

Darold; a son-in-law,

Gene D. Yahnke; and si-

blings Jake, Martha, Katie,

Fred, Edward, David and

Eleanor.
