Karen M. Olson

Minot, died Friday, March

9, 2018 in a Minot Hospi-

tal.

Karen was born May 12,

1940 at Minot, North

Dakota the daughter of

Edwin and Genevie

(Quarne) Olson. She was

raised in Minot and gra-

duated from Minot High

School in 1958. She con-

tinued her schooling at

the University of North

Dakota at Grand Forks,

graduating with a degree

in Medical Technology in

1962.

Karen returned to

Minot, where she was em-

ployed at St Joseph’s Hos-

pital and later with Trini-

ty Medical Center for a

period of nearly 40 years.

She enjoyed teaching and

training many of the new

med tech students going

into her field of work. She

was recognized by the

Hospital as the employee

of the Year during her

tenure there. She had

most recently been a

resident of the Wellington

Assisted Living Facility,

where she had been

named the resident of the

month and year in 2017.

Karen was a lifelong

member of the Congrega-

tional United Church of

Christ, where she sang in

the church choir. She was

also a member of the PEO

Chapter AG in Minot. She

enjoyed her pet cats and

crocheting.

Karen’s loving family

includes: sister, Judy

Sterud, Plymouth, MN;

her nieces, Julie Tomlin-

son and Amy Kennedy; a

nephew, Steve Sterud and

all of their families.

Karen was preceded in

death by: her parents;

brother-in-law, Gary

Sterud; godmother and

aunt, Margaret Gudmun-

son.

Heaven Going Celebra-tion: Tuesday, March 13,

2018 at 1:30 p.m. in the

Congregational United

Church of Christ.

Interment: Rosehill

Memorial Park, Minot.

Visitation: Monday,

March 12th from

4:00-6:00 p.m. in Thomas

Family Funeral Home,

Minot.

Memorials: preferred to

the Arthritis Foundation

and Congregational Unit-

ed Church of Christ.
