James Thomas Rinn, 49,
of Fargo, ND, passed away
unexpectedly on Friday,
February 16, 2018 at his
home. James was born
February 20, 1968 in Far-
go, ND. He grew up in
Cando, ND and Minot,
ND, graduating from
Minot High School. He
earned a degree in music
from Valley City State
University and married
his college sweetheart,
Bethany Carroll, in Cando
in July of 1995.
James, also known as
“Jimmy” and “Jimmy
James” had a kind heart
and soul, as well as a silly
sense of humor and brilli-
ant smile. He was the
kind of friend we all hope
to be and was loved by
everyone who knew him.
After graduating from
college, James moved to
Fargo where his love of
music and phenomenal
skills as a drummer land-
ed him a career with
Theatrical Media Services
of Omaha, staging and
running spectacular light
shows for famous bands.
James also worked with
several production com-
panies and bands at vari-
ous locations in Fargo
and, being a
multi-talented musician,
would occasionally get up
on stage with local bands
to entertain with AC/DC
songs, like “You Shook
Me All Night Long.”
James will be missed
dearly by countless peo-
ple who were blessed to
know him.
James is survived by:
his children, Monte Rinn,
CO, and Stephanie
(Steve) Hanson, Minot,
ND; Parents, David and
Patricia Rinn, Dickinson,
ND, and Darlene Link,
Fargo, ND; Siblings, Pa-
tricia (Russ) Carter, Fargo
ND, David (Fang) Rinn Jr.,
WA, Barbara (Rod) Erks,
Utica NE, Kris Machado,
Minot, ND, Janelle
(Claude) Christianson,
New Town, ND, and Mary
Scott, Bismarck ND,
Bethany Carroll-Rinn, CO;
2 grandchildren in Minot,
ND, and many nieces and
nephews in various parts
of the United States.
A “Celebration of Life”
will be held for James on
Sunday, March 18th,
2018, 3pm -10pm, at 9
Iron Bar & Grill, 4400
Clubhouse Drive South,
Fargo, ND 58104.
