Borghild Hovland, 104,
of Harvey died Friday,
June 16, 2017, at the St.
Aloisius Hospital in Har-
vey, ND.
Funeral services will be
at 10:30 a.m. Saturday,
June 24, 2017 at First
Lutheran Church, Harvey,
ND. Burial will be in
Bethania Lutheran Ceme-
tery near Wellsburg.
Visitation will be from
4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Fri-
day, June 23, at Hertz
Funeral Home, Harvey,
ND.
Borghild Regina was
born February 22, 1913,
on a farm in Benson
County near Wellsburg,
ND. She was the daugh-
ter of Ben and Karen
(Skurdal) Vik. She grew
up on the family farm and
attended the North Fork
School in Benson County.
She was employed as a
nanny and housekeeper in
Fargo, Minneapolis, New
Mexico, Florida and
Washington. Borghild
married Norris Hovland
on March 6, 1943, at her
parents’ home near
Wellsburg. They farmed
east of there and she al-
ways enjoyed having a
large garden. They retired
in 1975 and moved into
Harvey in 1981. Norris
died on July 21, 1995.
Borghild was a member
of the Bethania Lutheran
Church in Wellsburg until
it burned in 1976, then
joined the First Lutheran
Church where she was ac-
tive in the women’s
groups and the Altar
Guild.
Spending time with her
family was her greatest
joy and she was an in-
spiration to each one of
them. Norris and Borg-
hild enjoyed traveling to
Norway and visiting fami-
ly and friends in num-
erous states. She enjoyed
quilting, crocheting and
playing cards.
Borghild is survived by
her son, Myron Hovland
of Harvey; two daughters,
Cynthia (Gary) Faul of
Spanaway, WA, and
Lynne Dick of Harvey;
eight grandchildren, Me-
lissa Hovland, Mark
(Cheryl) Faul, Brian Faul,
Darin (Jennifer) Faul,
Jaime (Chad) Bush, Jen-
nifer (Tom) Ammon, Jodi
Davis, Barry (Elisa) Dick;
15 great-grandchildren,
Casey Schwaderer, Zoe
Faul, Hans, Eleanor and
Annemarie Faul, Carsten
and Kaiya Bush, Haylea,
Sydney and Hayden Am-
mon, Madison, Keenan
and Brooklyn Davis,
Aryiah and Bentley Dick;
three step great-grand-
children, Dustin, Desiree
and Daniel Davis.
Borghild was preceded
in death by her parents;
husband; sisters, Agnes
Garver and Lillian
Pramhus; brothers, Art,
Carl, William and George;
son-in-law, Barry Dick;
grandson-in-law, David
Davis.
