Ruth Tkachenko

Ruth “Ruthy” Elaine Tkachenko, 84, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 20, 2015, in Colorado Springs, Colo., at her home.

Ruth was born in Velva, on Nov. 24, 1930. She was the middle child of Olaf and Ella Hagen.

Ruth married the love of her life, Russell Tkachenko, in Minot.

She was an amazing mother and homemaker. Ruth was an incredible baker who baked the best cakes and cookies. She was a sports fan and enjoyed watching baseball and football. Ruth also adored her beautiful flower gardens, which were a source of great pride and joy.

Ruth was a member of the Eagles and was the chaplain for the VFW 101 in Colorado Springs. She was a proud member of the Sons of Norway in which she loved to share and talk about her Norwegian heritage.

Ruth is survived by: her four sons, Terry (Cindy) Tkachenko, Faron Tkachenko, Mark (Juanita) Tkachenko and Kelly Tkachenko; two daughters, Kathie Godsil and Melody Farrell; brother, Oscar Hagen; sister, Iris Lindahl; 10 grandchildren; and many other family and friends.

Ruth was preceded in death by: her husband, Russell Tkachenko; sister, Sylvia Hagen; and granddaughter, Melissa Thompson.

A service will be held at 11:15 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2015, at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
