Lloyd Jelleberg

BOTTINEAU Lloyd Jelleberg, 93, of Bottineau, died Friday in a Bottineau hospital.

Lloyd Jelleberg, a son of Louis and Julia Jelleberg, was born May 14, 1921, at Bottineau.

He enlisted in the Army March 26, 1942. Lloyd served one year in the Aleutian Islands in Alaska and then volunteered to join the 99th Infantry Battalion Separate, a Norwegian-American Ski Troop Unit. He took part in the Normandy invasion, Northern France, Rhineland and Battle of the Bulge. Lloyd was then sent to Norway for six months to help in the removal of German troops and he was part of the honor guard when King Haaken returned to Norway.

On January 14, 1947, he married Lucille Hagert at Bottineau. Lucille died July 15, 1983.

On April 15, 1989, he married Irene McNea. She died Sept. 10, 2011.

Survivors: daughters, Judy Steffens, Nevada City, Calif., and Joan Bertram, Bottineau; son, John, of Bottineau; step-daughter, Diane (Reggie) Myhr, Bottineau; brothers, Ernest and Everett, Bottineau; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Bottineau.

Visitation: 1 to 9 p.m. today with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau.

Burial: St. Mark’s Catholic Cemetery, Bottineau.
