Snowmobile season kicks off on groomed state trails

BISMARCK – With fresh snowfall across the state, North Dakota’s snowmobile trails officially opened Monday, Dec.1.

This early start to the season makes it possible for riders to get out and enjoy more than 2,800 miles of groomed state trails, according to North Dakota Parks & Recreation. The 13 trail systems, maintained by dedicated members of Snowmobile North Dakota, will remain open until April as long as trail segments have a minimum of four inches of packed snow.

To enhance safety and improve their riding experience, snowmobilers are encouraged to download the Snowmobile North Dakota mobile app. Riders can also explore trails from home using Snowmobile North Dakota’s interactive online trail map, which includes a “Plan Your Trip” tool that provides turn-by-turn directions and total mileage between selected destinations.

North Dakota law requires youth ages 10 and older who do not hold a valid driver’s license or permit to complete an approved snowmobile safety certification course.

Starting at $2.99/week.
