Local groups partner to boost Minot North calculator lease program
The Minot Area Community Foundation (MACF) has partnered with Minot Public School Foundation (MPSF) to grant $5,000 to the Minot North High School Mathematics Department to create a calculator lease program.
MACF Funding was made possible through the Mike & Dorothy Dolan Fund. “Supporting our students and classrooms is vital to our community. We are pleased to announce that the Minot Public School Foundation has accepted our challenge to match these funds,” said Jason
Zimmerman, MACF president. “This collaboration has demonstrated a commitment to enhancing educational opportunities. We hope this joint effort will inspire further support and investment in our schools.”
Teachers from the MNHS Mathematics Department came to the organizations with the goal of providing students with the best possible resources to enhance their education. The use of graphing calculators is a requirement for upper-level math classes, but the cost can be a barrier for students to have the proper tools to succeed.
“I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for the generous grant awarded to us for graphing calculators,” said Julie Mosser, MNHS mathematics teacher. “The support will significantly enhance our students’ learning experience in mathematics and science.”
“This coming school year brings lots of excitement to our community as Minot North opens to students and staff for the first time,” said MPSF Board President Ben Berg. “MPSF strives to support the education of students across our district.”
