Makers’ market making plans
412_Minot, a vintage store, is a maker’s market and shopper’s dream.
Sara Schwan, owner, maker and also proprietor of Rae Creates Rentals, said of opening the 412-store front that the name is not only in the address but that the store is “four one two inspire, four one two create and four one two dream.” Separating herself from a traditional thrift store or antique store, Schwan provides a different vibe she called “a rock ‘in’ roller type gypsy vibe.”
Currently 412 has 15 makers bringing in inventory on consignment, and Schwan, with the help of another maker and friend Melissa Grilley of Pockets Full of Posies, creates and styles the new and re-purposed product displays. Schwan said it is her “actual specialty to style and price items on a budget and create a cozy home with a price point that really works for the budget savvy shopper.”
“For me, creating a cozy home for you and your loved ones to feel at peace and feel comfortable in your own space is super important,” Schwan said. Carrying everything from furniture to greeting cards and repurposed children book cover journals, the store allows shoppers to find treasures from new to old and that perfect piece you didn’t know you needed.
The next opportunity to shop at the makers’ market is this Thursday from 4-7 p.m. 412 is hosting its fourth annual “Galentine’s” event, at which makers and venders, such as Perma-Chain, will be in house “for all the gal pal gifts needed for family, friends, co-workers and service providers in your life,” said Schwan. Open dates for 412 are the 12th of every month and the fourth weekend of every month.
On Saturday, March 5, from noon to 4 p.m., Schwan and Grilley will be hosting “The Wedding Album” at Ray Creates Events, in the warehouse directly behind 412, located at 305 4th Ave NE Unit A. It’s an event at which Schwan and Grilley will be creating six inspiring wedding looks, themed around a song and styled to represent some trending wedding looks.
“Certainly, something different on the whole wedding show concept, where guests can experience an art exhibit of all the beautiful items Sara has collected in her event planning, displaying so many options, apart from the regular styles at a traditional bridal show,” said Grilley.
Along with the six wedding exhibits, there will be venders and makers at each, pertaining to whichever design wedding album you are inspired by, said Grilley.
