Emergency responders recovered a body from the Souris River in southeast Minot this afternoon, the Ward County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The Sheriff’s Department, along with the Minot Police Department, Minot Fire Department and Trinity First Response, responded to the river on the southeast edge of Minot after receiving a report from people kayaking that a body was found floating in the water.

The Minot Fire Department recovered the body from the river. The release of the name of the individual is pending notification of next of kin. The circumstances of the death are still under investigation. According to the Sheriff’s Office, no foul play is suspected at this time.
