Former counselor pleads guilty to misdemeanor sexual assault

Former Minot High School counselor Clifford Lee Davis, 39, who had originally been charged with Class A felony gross sexual imposition for allegedly sexually assaulting a passed-out woman at a house party on Dec. 4, 2021, pleaded guilty Wednesday to the reduced charge of Class A misdemeanor sexual assault – offensive contact.

Court records show that Judge Gary Lee sentenced Davis to 360 days in the Ward County Jail, all suspended but the one day he already served, and two years of supervised probation. Davis was also ordered to have no contact with the victim and to pay $389.84 in restitution and $325 in court costs.

Davis, who now lives in Gillette, Wyo., resigned last December in lieu of being fired from the Minot Public School District.
