US Highway 2 shut down for 4 1/2 hours due to semi-tractor trailer rollover

BURLINGTON — Both westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 2, four miles west of Burlington, were shut down for 4 1/2 hours on Sunday after a semi-tractor trailer driver lost control of the vehicle on icy roads and rolled the vehicle at 7:09 p.m., according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

Gurjeet Sohal, 33, of Regina, Saskatchewan, was wearing his seat belt and was not injured. The patrol said he was traveling too fast for road conditions. Road conditions were poor at the time due to freezing rain and snow.

Sohal was traveling east, operating a freightliner commercial truck pulling a trailer and entered the median, crossed the median, and then entered the westbound lanes of Highway 2. He struck the guard rail and the truck-trailer combination rolled onto its passenger side across both westbound lanes of Highway 2, coming to rest facing north.

Sohal was cited for care required.
