Montana man dies in two-vehicle truck crash

CARTWRIGHT — A Fairview, Montana, man died from injuries received in a two-vehicle truck crash at an intersection about six miles north of Cartwright on Friday.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol said Allen Emly, 60, of Fairview, died of his injuries at a Sidney, Montana, hospital.

The crash occurred about noon on Friday at the intersection of McKenzie County Road 16 and 154th Avenue Northwest.

Shawn Flowers, 50, Washington, Kansas, driver of a 2001 Freightliner truck towing a tanker loaded with 165 barrels of saltwater, was going west on McKenzie County Road 16. Emly, driving a 2014 Volvo truck towing an empty side-dump trailer was northbound on 154th Avenue. The Volvo failed to stop at a stop sign, striking the left side of the Freightliner. The patrol said Flowers, who was not injured, was wearing a seat belt. Emly was not wearing a seat belt, according to the patrol.

No hazardous materials were released from original containment, the patrol said.
