Mary Catches, New Town, sentenced to 18 months for intent to deliver meth

Mary Joyce Catches, 33, New Town, was sentenced on July 28 to three years in prison, with a requirement that she serve 18 months, and three years of supervised probation for Class B felony possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine on April 8.

Judge Doug Mattson will recommend that Catches receive treatment for drug addiction in prison. He also ordered her to obtain a chemical dependency evaluation and to pay $1,000 in court costs. She will receive credit for the 21 days she has already served in jail.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, Catches was arrested following a traffic stop. Authorities received a call reporting that she was believed to be driving south on Highway 83 while high on drugs and had a suspended driver’s license and warrants out for her arrest. Authorities located her at the Holiday Gas Station at 3301 South Broadway, saw that she matched the description given, and followed her on South Broadway. Catches admitted to having a syringe in her bra and to having used methamphetamine that morning. Authorities searched her purse and found eight plastic baggies with suspected methamphetamine in them, multiple prescription bottles, a small digital scale, and $609.26 in cash.
