Ladonte Bryant, Minot, indicted on federal distribution of fentanyl, meth, charges

Ladonte Chester Bryant, 29, Minot, has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of distribution of fentanyl, distribution of methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and possession of firearms and ammunition by a convicted felon.

Bryant, who uses the alias “Compton,” had originally been charged with the offenses in district court in Ward County, but that case was dismissed when it was transferred to federal court.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed in state court, an officer from the Ward County Narcotics Task Force and Bryant’s probation officer went to Bryant’s residence at 1209 32nd Avenue SW, No. 3, in December 2020. Bryant smelled strongly of marijuana and said he doesn’t sell the marijuana but gives it to his friends. The officers searched Bryant’s residence and found the drugs and firearms. Fentanyl has been implicated in a number of drug overdoses and drug overdose deaths this year in the Minot area.

According to the indictment in federal court, Bryant had distributed more than 50 grams of meth on Dec. 4, 2020, in the Minot area, and he distributed the fentanyl on Dec. 1, 2020. He had a pistol and revolver in his possession and is not allowed to possess firearms because of two prior domestic violence convictions in state court.

Bryant was scheduled to be arraigned on the charges in U.S. District Court on Tuesday.
