Nathaniel Paul Bishop, 24, Minot, is accused of leaving a 6-year-old girl unattended early Wednesday morning.

He is charged in district court in Minot with Class C felony child neglect-parental care and Class C felony violation of a no contact order.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, two people called police and asked them to do a welfare check on the residence because they were concerned that the child might have been left alone. Police went to the residence and found the girl sleeping on a couch in the living room, with no one else in the residence. The girl told police that the adults had been there when she went to sleep but she did not know where they had gone.

Bishop was scheduled to make an initial appearance on the charges Wednesday.
