Ira Jones Jr., Minot, charged with intent to deliver methamphetamine

Ira Montriece Jones Jr., 36, is charged in district court in Minot with Class B felony possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, two counts of Class C felony possession of drug paraphernalia, Class C felony felon in possession of a firearm, and Class B misdemeanor refusal to halt on Tuesday.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, Jones was wanted on a probation revocation warrant in another case. Police spotted him get out of a vehicle that is associated with making frequent short trips that are associated with drug trafficking outside the Microtel Hotel in southwest Minot. They attempted to detain Jones as he was emerging from Room 325, but Jones argued with them and fled on foot. Ward County Narcotics Task Force officers located Jones in the hotel parking lot. They traced Jones’ path and discovered two plastic baggies containing methamphetamine in a garbage can next to the door Jones had just gone through. The baggies contained a combined 24 grams of meth. Jones’ room at the hotel was searched which turned up a scale with suspected meth residue, money and a Ruger semi-automatic pistol.
