Park board selects firm for facilities study

Engineering consultant JLG will be working with the Minot Park Board on a master plan for the park district’s indoor recreation facilities.

At its meeting Tuesday, the board selected JLG from three firms submitting proposals for the work. Parks Director Ron Merritt said the study is expected to take about six months.

Facilities to be looked at include Maysa Arena, where the board has ideas for a future fieldhouse and fourth ice rink. The study will consider options for indoor turf or construction of a multi-use court in a fieldhouse.

In addition, the study will look at ways to enhance recreational use of the Minot Municipal Auditorium and the future of that building in the park district’s long-range plans.

The park district will be seeking input from recreational user groups during the study.

In other business, the board set fees at Souris Valley Golf Course for 2021. Daily fees are going up by a dollar for adult golf and golf cart rental. The cost will be $34 for 18-hole play and $24 for nine-hole play. Season pass prices also are changing. A full list of the new fees will be posted at minotparks.com on its Souris Valley Golf Course page.
