Lance David Brossart, 39, was sentenced on Friday to 40 years in prison, with a requirement that he serve 25 years, followed by 10 years of supervised probation for sexually abusing a young girl over a period of many years. He had previously confessed to the crime before he was arrested.

Brossart had pleaded guilty to the Class AA felony on Sept. 4. On Friday Judge Richard Hagar also ordered him to have no contact with the victim or her family members and to register as a sex offender. He will receive credit for 297 days already served in the Ward County Jail.
